day five

We give You thanks today, O God, for the friends we’ve made at the Casa: for those who shared the journey with us whether for years or only a short time; for all of those who mourned with us when we
experienced losses, who encouraged us when we were down, and who laughed with us in moments of joy and fun.

  1. My gratitude for the Casa community is the waves of a gentle, warm and fertile ocean. The waves of my gratitude push forward endlessly, rocking me and holding me gently above the deep.I remember a time when my mother was living through the last moments of her life. My schedule allowed me to attend morning Mass but the blackness of grief smothered my ability to pray. I could see the devotion and I could feel the godliness of those early morning saints at those Masses. One woman in particular radiated her love in a palpable wave. I petitioned God to make her my prayer delegate. Through her, I was offering that which I could not offer at that moment. I will always be grateful to her and for the ocean of prayers created through this community of mine.

  2. I found the Casa at a time in my life when I was not searching for anything in particular. It was a time when my heart had already fully surrendered to God's divine guidance. I was following, and He was leading. To be quite honest I am not sure how I even managed to follow His lead when most of the time I felt like a baby who was just learning to crawl, yet through this crawl of mine, I found a spark of life at the Casa. A spark that ignited the firey furnace of a divinely inspired love; Love for Christ, love for Prayer, and a deeper more substantial kind of Love. The memories I have at the Casa are unique and anchored. So strongly anchored that I vaguely remember what life was like before. My experiences, my loves, and losses have faded into the background. I am not crawling as much anymore...I feel upright. I walk and soon I will be running and following and running and following. May the Casa be blessed. Always. May it continue to be a place that helps those who are just learning to crawl or those who are running full speed reach their destination with Jesus Christ our Lord.

In total gratitude for the Love I have been gifted with through the Casa. Amen.
