day three

We give You thanks today, O God, for everyone who worked on staff at the Casa.  They often worked long hours for little pay because they believed in the vision the Franciscans had for this place.

  1. How can one express gratitude to people who infuse God into the messy and mundane parts of life? How like Jesus are these people to me as they sift through the papers, balance the books, fix the toilets, cut the grass, clean the rooms and feed the flock: both body and soul. I know that Mary, a caring Jewess and a concerned mother taught Jesus the foundational pillars of life which are based and built on the mundane and messy. So when I see the hands of Jesus writing in the dirt, using His own spittle and soil to heal or feeding the hungry, saving the drowning, I see Him in the acts of this staff as they make the common tasks sacred and for that I am grateful.
