week two

In celebration of the Casa’s 60th Anniversary, we pray for all of those people we remembered this past  week who have been part of the life of the Casa: the founders, the visionaries, the staff members and volunteers, the friends we made and lost, and the people who challenged us. Send abundant blessings on the living. Embrace those who have died in Your eternal light. O God, and may You and we remember them always.

This week, in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Franciscan Renewal Center, we remember all of the beauty both natural and man-made that we have experienced at the Casa.

  1. O Carpenter of Nazareth, can you understand me when I speak about my needs, my desires,my love of the beauty of this place? Did you find pleasure in the feel and smell of the wood in your father's shop? Did the grain and texture of the sweetly fragrant cedar trees fill you with the wonder of creation? I walk in a desert much like the desert in which you once stepped avoiding the barbs of prickly plants. The prickly pear opens its beautiful flower for me as it once did for you. Did the desert blooms fill your heart with their beauty as they fill my heart? Did you find joy in the warmth of the sun? Did you rush to feel the drops of the warm desert rain on your skin as I do? In the silence of the desert, I find my answers. I am grateful for the eyes to see the beauty of Creation as a manifestation of the fertility and generosity of the Godhead.

  2. Today, just after precious rain on your holy ground, the fragrance of eucalyptus and incense permeates the air. We are the most blessed and lucky to worship Jesus in such a rare and beautiful place, here at Our Casa. All of our senses are filled to overflowing. All of our gratitude is shared! My love to my spirtual home and our community this day!
